        Appointments and Scheduling

School, jobs, sports . . . A busy life makes scheduling
appointments a challenge. To help you face this
challenge, we use a scheduling system designed to
minimize time away from work and school.  Dr. Godwin’s
practice is unique in that we offer patient care at the same
location four days per week. This flexibility strengthens our
ability to provide quality care.
We encourage our patients to choose health as a priority!
Some of your appointments may conflict with work or
school because certain procedures have special time
requirements. Longer appointments are scheduled during
the morning, allowing us to see more patients after school
for their regular adjustment appointments. This scheduling
policy results in higher quality care, while maintaining the
cost of care and minimizing impact on work and school.
Lengthy Morning Appointments
New patient consultations, initial placement of braces, and
placement of additional braces are focused,  technique-
sensitive procedures. These lengthy, morning
appointments may last between 30 and 90 minutes.
Retainer Impression Appointments
Impressions for retainers require additional lab work after
a patient leaves the office. To permit timely delivery of
retainers, impressions for retainers are scheduled in the
morning or early afternoon, before 3:00 p.m.
After-School Regular Adjustments
After braces are placed by Dr. Godwin,  patients are
usually seen every 4 to 6 weeks for routine adjustments.
These appointments are typically 20 to 30 minutes in
duration. Most patients reserve their monthly adjustment
appointments for after-school hours; however, for your
convenience, we do offer morning appointments for these
routine visits.
Urgent Care Visits
Patients with true orthodontic emergencies should be seen
as soon as possible. If you are uncomfortable, Dr. Godwin
would like to see you immediately which may require time
away from work and/or school.  We reserve special times
daily for those patients with other, less urgent needs. To
keep treatment progressing, it is important that you notify
us as soon as you notice broken braces. In consideration
of fellow patients, broken braces will not be repaired at
your regular adjustment appointment unless you notify us
in advance.
Teamwork
An efficient, effective scheduling system requires
teamwork! To ensure convenient appointments, we
encourage you to reserve your next appointment before
you leave the office.
With the philosophy that health is a priority, we hope that
you make every effort to keep your scheduled
appointments. We understand that unforeseen
circumstances do occur. Please call us as soon as you
know that you cannot keep your scheduled appointment.
Early notification allows us to offer your reserved time slot
to other patients and permits us to effectively
accommodate your busy schedule.
After-school appointments are filled a month in advance.
Therefore, failed or cancelled appointments are usually
rescheduled during school hours. Patients may choose to
wait an additional month for the next after-school
appointment to become available; however, this decision
will delay treatment. Please help us better serve you by
keeping your appointments.
When you arrive at the office, you’ll sign in using our
computerized check-in system. The moment you sign in, a
network of computers lets Dr. Godwin and his staff know
that you have arrived. This system allows us to manage
our patient flow and provide prompt, efficient care . We
pride ourselves on running on schedule, and all patients
are seen based on their scheduled appointment.
